About the eventBird ringing is a harmless monitoring technique where a lightweight ring is placed around a bird’s leg, allowing researchers to identify individual birds and track information about their survival, migration, and productivity.Specially trained ringers will introduce you to the equipment and methods used and demonstrate how different measurements are taken.You’ll learn how ringing contributes to our understanding of changes in populations of birds, and of course see some beautiful birds up close!What to expectLearn how experts monitor bird populations in the city.Improve your bird ID skills and see species up close.See the stunning Woodberry Wetlands outside of opening hours.Aged between 16-30? As part of our Keeping it Wild Collective we are running a free Bird Ringing Demonstration at Woodberry Wetlands on 20th September.

The delivery of free Keeping it Wild Collective events is made possible by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.The charge to attend this event covers the running costs and any remaining funds are invested in our nature recovery work across the city.This demonstration is subject to suitable weather conditions.

In the event of rain or winds the demo may be cancelled or shortened for the welfare of the birds.
