Amulet + Support

Amulet (Joseph Flower + Isaac Tendler) are a Glasgow-based alternative folk duo.

Using looped electric guitar, analogue synthesiser, field recordings and samples from multiple folk cultures, they create moving soundscapes from fragments of melody and texture.

Since releasing their debut EP in June 2025, they have played headline shows across the UK, received airplay on local and national radio stations including BBC 6Music, and collaborated with artists including Pictish Trail, Greer Pester, and Slyn.In April 2026, they duo took part in a residency at KNOCKvologan Studio on the Isle of Mull, creating new work about the historic Ross of Mull granite quarries.

These quarries significantly changed the landscape of, and life on, the Ross, producing stone that built monumental structures in cities such as Glasgow, London, Liverpool, and New York.Over two weeks, they worked with the local community of the Ross to create an LP-length piece of music and performance.

The piece responds to the area’s unique landscape, the people that live on it, and how both have been shaped by the quarries’ complex histories of industry and extraction.

The piece combines original music, environmental field recordings, pieces of granite, and the voices, songs, and words of local people from 1850-today.
