10Award-winning historian and writer Alistair Moffat joins us to explore the extraordinary story of the Irish saints whose journeys across the sea helped shape early medieval Scotland. Drawing on his acclaimed book Islands of the Evening , Moffat uncovers the lives of figures including Columba, Brendan, Moluag and Maelrubha, revealing how these pioneering travellers forged enduring cultural and spiritual links between Ireland and Scotland. Through history, archaeology and evocative travel writing, he brings to life the remote islands, monasteries and landscapes where their remarkable stories unfolded.Alistair Moffat was born in Kelso, Scotland, in 1950. An award-winning writer and historian, he is the author of more than 40 books exploring Scotlands history, landscape and ancestry. A former Director of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Director of Programmes at Scottish Television, he is also the founder of Borders Book Festival and Co-Chairman of The Great Tapestry of Scotland.
