Talk by Phil Astley, Team Leader - Aberdeen City & Aberdeenshire ArchivesParson James Gordon (about 1617-1686), or the Parson of Rothiemay, was a Scottish historian, geographer, and cleric, most famous for his detailed 17th-century maps, especially the 1661 plan of Aberdeen.
This was the first accurate representation of the two burghs of Old and New Aberdeen.
In his talk Phil takes a closer look at the map’s features, its historical context and the man who produced it.
