Jesus Christ Superstar is a legendary rock opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, reimagining the final week of Jesus of Nazareths life, told largely through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. As tensions rise, Judas becomes increasingly troubled by Jesus growing influence and fears the consequences it may bring. Believing he may be preventing greater harm, he makes the fateful decision to betray him. Meanwhile, Jesus continues his ministry, adored by the crowds yet facing deep personal anguish about what lies ahead. Supported by Mary Magdalene, and pursued by the plotting high priests, the story builds toward the powerful and emotional events of the Last Supper, betrayal, trial and crucifixion. Blending powerful rock music with raw, human storytelling, the show explores themes of loyalty, doubt, fame and sacrifice in a bold and contemporary way.
