Join us and Hive Mind for a much requested mead tasting session.
We will be exploring a range of 13 mead products together, from traditional medieval-style recipes to more modern interpretations and everything in between. Along the way you will learn a little about the history of mead, how it is made, and how different ingredients and techniques shape the flavour.
Whether you are completely new to mead or already a fan, it is a great chance to taste something a little different in the beautiful setting of our medieval main barn. The tasting will include products from the following ranges:
Meads (gluten free)
Sparkling Mead (gluten free)
Honey beers (contains gluten)
Honeyade soft drinks (gluten free)
Spiced Honey Rum (gluten free)There will be a small amount of the products sampled to sell on the evening should you wish to purchase any. A percentage of all sales on the night goes directly back to supporting The Barn. Cash and card payments are accepted.About your hosts:
This tasting evening will be led by Hive Mind, who are beekeepers and mead makers from South Wales. They combine their deep love for the natural world, and their interest in brewing to transform their honey into modern, contemporary sparkling and multi-award winning, traditional wine-style meads (and now soft drinks too!).
Their mead is a little different to the more mass-market offerings that are out there. They make theirs from 100% British honey (including honey from their own bees), rather than using a base of white wine, and sweetening with sugar. This means their meads are the genuine article that support UK beekeepers, are minimally processed, and all natural (and delicious!).Strictly for ages 18years+ only. Please drink responsibly.Free parking on site, but please note the car park will be locked after this event and no overnight parking is available.
Winterbourne Medieval Barn does not condone drink driving, so if you will be enjoying the mead at this event, we recommend arranging a lift or using public transport to attend.
