Buzz into the fascinating world of honeybees with this immersive, hands-on workshop at Hackney School of Food.
Youll be welcomed with homemade honey drinks and honeyed snacks before being introduced to the joys of keeping bees. Led by our resident beekeeper and Head Food Educator, Tom, this three-hour session offers a unique opportunity to explore our on-site beehives and discover the fascinating lives of these essential pollinators.Youll learn the essentials of urban beekeeping, including the role of the beekeeper, different types of hives, and how to create bee-friendly environments. Therell also be the chance to get up close with our own buzzing residents, giving you a real taste of what its like to keep bees yourself.And of course, no beekeeping session would be complete without a honey tasting! Sample a curated selection of honeys and explore how to cook creatively with this golden, natural sweetener. Tom is Head Food Educator at Hackney School of Food and a second-generation beekeeper. Since beginning his beekeeping journey in 2020, he has developed extensive hands-on experience, particularly in urban apiculture. Passionate about both bees and food, Tom is excited to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with you.Tickets
