Tom McLaughlin: Alan, King of the Universe

Exeter Library are chuffed to welcome acclaimed Devon author and illustrator Tom McLaughlin for a fun-filled and creative childrens event. Join author and illustrator, Tom McLaughlin as he introduces his graphic novel series, Alan, King of the Universe ( su- purr -bly funny adventures about a cat born with opposable thumbs and bent on world domination.)Part workshop, and part talk... Tom will show you how to create comic strips and how to draw some of the characters from his side-splitting graphic novel. Perfect for children aged 7+, the event will bring to life the hilarious world of AlanAlanis an orange cat blessed with opposable thumbs and convinced he was born to rule. He spends his days scheming up brilliant plans to fulfil his destiny. From accidentally shrinking himself, to raising an army of cats...With FIVE stories in one, this two-colour graphic novel series for 7+ readers will have kids and their grown-ups rolling around on the floor with laughter!Tom McLaughlin is an award-nominated author and illustrator living in Exeter. Before becoming a full-time creator of children's books, he worked as a political cartoonist and animation designer. His books have been translated into more than ten languages and are loved by young readers for their humour, creativity and heart.This event will last for up to 60 mins in the Rougemont Room on the 2nd floor of the Library.Books are available to buy from the Bookery; Crediton's brilliant indie bookstore will have a stall in our foyer all afternoon!
And Tom will be signing copies of his books following the event.Tickets are free for Library members (5 for non-members) and due to high demand a ticket is required for each child attending.Accompanying adults donotneed to book a ticket. You are welcome to stay with your child or drop them off in the space, but we ask that you remain in the Library for the duration of the event.Please do notbook a ticket unless you are definitely attending!!
