Christmas and ghost stories never go out of fashion, and Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol is probably the most famous of them all. This adaption is by Patrick Barlow, who wrote the hit comedy version of The 39 Steps. Ebenezer Scrooge is a man who firmly believes that "every idiot who goes about with 'Merry Christmas' on his lips, should be boiled with his own pudding, and buried with a stake of holly through his heart." He's mean-spirited, miserly and not about to change his ways...until one Christmas Eve and a series of ghostly visitors.
