Gospel by Candlelight is a moving celebration of music, joy and community from the legendaryLondon Community Gospel Choir.Set in Hackney's iconic Round Chapel – a cultural landmark in a neighbourhood often regarded asthe spiritual home of UK gospel – the performance features the powerful vocals of a 12-piece choir, accompanied by a sensational live band. The specially curated setlist blends theuplifting spirit of gospel with songs from musical theatre, film soundtracks, soul and R&B.Highlights include The Lion King's "Circle of Life", which the choir recorded with Elton John for Disney's classic 1994 film, alongside favourites from Rent and The Color Purple, "Joyful, Joyful" from Sister Act 2, Mary Mary's "Shackles (Praise You)", and tributes to legends including Aretha Franklin and Nina Simone.Expect soaring vocals and an unforgettable atmosphere in one of London's most distinctive live music venues, illuminated by candlelight.Founded in 1982, the London Community Gospel Choir has performed with music legends including Madonna and Paul McCartney, appeared on stages such as the Royal Albert Hall, and took part in the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.
