Through powerful portraits by Denise Lensi, personal video testimonies and a recreated Windrush front room, visitors are invited to explore the stories of those who journeyed from the Caribbean to Britain after answering the call to help rebuild the nation following the Second World War.Sharing memories of hope, resilience, challenge and success, the new galleries honour the generation that helped shape modern Leicester.Curated by Tara Munroe and Opal22 Arts and Edutainment for Leicester Museums & Galleries, it preserves these important stories for future generations.Come and discover Windrush The Legacy at Newarke Houses Museum, an exhibition celebrating the stories, achievements and lasting contribution of Leicester’s Windrush generation.
