John Robins: Thirst

John Robins is a critically acclaimed stand-up comedian, Taskmaster champion and co-host of the Elis James and John Robins podcast.

He is also an alcoholic in recovery.

In conversation with broadcaster Max Whittle he tells the story of his life through the lens of alcohol, beginning with childhood curiosity and youthful excess, through the gradual loss of control that followed, to the moment he stopped in 2022 and began the long process of recovery.

He reflects on mental health, friendship, creativity and the stories we tell ourselves, offering a fascinating insight into how a habit can become a compulsion, how easily behaviour can escalate and what it takes to break the cycle and make lasting change.
