Botanical Printing and Textile Workshop With Joanna Shennan

In this creative workshop, participants will explore the highly experimental technique of
printing foliage onto fabric using a Gelli plate. This intuitive and individual process produces
Beautifully organic prints, with every piece becoming a unique expression of the maker's
Creativity.
A carefully selected collection of foliage, gathered from the landscape around Eskdalemuir
will be provided and ready to use for printing onto your own fabrics. Through demonstrations
And guided exploration, you will learn how different leaves and plant materials create
Distinctive textures, shapes and patterns.
The workshop will also include a demonstration on the deconstruction of printed fabrics
Showing how individual prints can be cut, rearranged and combined to create visually
pleasing compositions. Participants will then begin developing their own textile artworks by
Selecting, layering and combining their printed fabrics.
