Join us for a BSL Exhibition Tour of our current exhibition Augustas Serapinas: Physical Culture - the first institutional solo exhibition in England by Lithuanian artist Augustas Serapinas.

Jason Redwood’s tour will be delivered in British Sign Language without an interpreter or a voiceover.

We welcome all people that communicate in BSL, whether they are D/deaf or learning BSL.The first iteration of Physical Culture was created in 2012 while Serapinas was a third-year student at the Vilnius Academy of Arts’ Sculpture Department.

Since then, various versions of the installation have been exhibited internationally.

We will present a new reconfiguration spanning across two of our largest gallery spaces, inviting audiences into a hybrid space of activity - performance space; drawing studio; and gym - featuring fully operational metal fitness machines with jesmonite sculptures replacing conventional weights.

The work will be activated with a dynamic live programme punctuating the exhibition season; where local fitness groups will be invited to participate in exercise classes in the galleries; students from local universities will be invited to partake in life drawing classes; and community wellbeing groups will be invited to host mixed ability sessions and holistic workshops.Jason Redwood is a BSL tour guide and presenter with an English Literature degree and a passion in installation art and history.

He has delivered BSL tours in a range of museums and galleries, with experience curating exhibitions and understanding various art forms across the UK and the world.

He has always enjoyed sharing his passions and thoughts with the Deaf and BSL audiences who have visited his tours, and he always strives to show how wonderful things are in their own unique perspectives.
