Oatly, the world’s original and largest oat drink company, is partnering with Checkmate to bring an afternoon of open-play chess to Manchester this September.The free event will invite chess players of all abilities to drop in, play a game and soak up the atmosphere. Winners will also have the chance to take home a selection of Oatly prizes.Alongside the chess, guests can enjoy Oatly drinks on the house throughout the afternoon. The event will feature ‘Checkmate’, a limited-edition signature Oatly cocktail inspired by the bold moves and unexpected pairings found on the chessboard.The pop-up will also feature music from DJ Gardener, plus food vendors including Nell’s Pizza, selling treats to fuel attendees through the afternoon.Inspired by the vibrant chess nights Checkmate has been putting on across Manchester over the past few years that blend music, meaningful connection and relaxed chess play, the event brings the community-driven energy of the series to a wider audience and anyone curious to play chess.
Tickets do not need to be booked in advance.Expect plenty of chances to win Oatly goodies throughout the day, including fan-favourite drinks, exclusive merchandise and other surprise prizes. Quantities are limited, so be sure to get there early.
