Tidelines Book Festival Presents Andrew O'Hagan

Romantic love gets all the big headlines, all the famous songs, but what if your best friends were really your greatest relationships all along?Andrew O'Hagan has produced a highly personal book On Friendship that argues for the life-shaping comforts of loyal friendship.

On the eve of a major Australian tour, Andrew will be at Tidelines in Irvine to talk about his career as a writer, and to unfold the personal stories that created On Friendship.Andrew O'Hagan grew up in Ayrshire.

The author of ten books, he has three times been nominated for the Booker Prize and is a winner of the James Tait Black Memorial Prize, the E.M.

Forster Prize from the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the Los Angeles Times Book Award.

His novel Mayflies was adapted by into a Bafta-winning BBC drama and was recently a sell-out play at the Edinburgh Festival.

His latest novel, Caledonian Road, a state-of-the-nation epic, was a Number One bestseller.

Andrew is editor at large of the London Review of Books and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.
