Ursula Harrison is the winner of BBC Young Jazz Musician 2024, a composer, bass player and daughter of jazz bassist Paula Gardiner and she is currently studying at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam andJazz Institut Berlin.Co-leader of tonights quintet with Ursula is young vocalist Sylvie Noble.The pair met on the vibrant South-Wales jazz scene, where they bonded over a shared love of jazz and folk music.
Currently based in London, Sylvie is pursuing further jazz studies at the Royal Academy of Music, and is a fast-rising personality on the UK jazz vocal scene.
With influences such as Norma Winstone, Gillian Welch andCarla Bley, Sylvies sound is steeped in sensitive honesty and captivating storytelling.Combining raucous improvisation, deep grooves, and humorous interplay, New Eve , the debut album from Sylvie + Ursula, is a stripped down and deeply nostalgic glimpse into the human condition.
