Ridgeway Singers and Band 'Christmas Tidings From Wessex!'

Traditional carols, Dorset songs, dance tunes, and local poems and stories to celebrate the coming of ChristmasWe perform a growing repertoire of Dorset music old and new, in the tradition made famous by Thomas Hardy in Under the Greenwood Tree.
Singers are accompanied by a 'Village Band' of musicians playing stringed and woodwind instruments, and the concerts evoke old-fashioned country Christmases when we made our own entertainment.
The group is led by renowned serpent player of the Mellstock Band, Phil Humphries, who arranges original harmony parts to traditional and new tunes.
New this year are a locally penned Anthem celebrating our quality of life in Hardy's Wessex, and an ever popular audience participation 'Cobblers song' featuring the trade's percussive chorus
