Masterclass: Chine Colle and a la poupee for etching and relief prints.
This is a specialist one day workshop teaching two specific techniques which allow the manual addition of colour to etching or relief prints. Participants need to have previously made an etching plate and/or a relief block which they bring in to work on in this class. The Aluminium Etching course run on 24th October will generate a suitable etching plate if participants want to do both days. You can also bring in an existing etching plate (copper, zinc or solar plate etching) or we can also work with existing linocut blocks and woodcut blocks. This course is about adding colour in printing to existing printing blocks and will not include how to etch or make a relief print. Participants need to bring along a pre-existing block or plate and all other materials will be supplied.
Leena is a Scottish /Palestinian Artist based in Edinburgh She is a master printmaker, in all aspects of printmaking, and though her ideas predominantly are analysed and broken down through printmaking processes, she has also worked in film, photography, bronze and ceramics. Her love of printmaking comes from the idea that it tends to be a social/communal activity. Working in a workshop, as staff/technician or as an artist, the opportunities that are passed on, the techniques shared, and the alchemical/science/mysterious part of the art making gives her great satisfaction.
Workshop starts 9.45 am and finishes by 4.00 pm.
Tea and coffee are supplied. Please bring your own lunch in as the cafe is closed on a Sunday.
