Conductor: Otis Enokido-LinehamFrom East Anglian Fens to Finnish Forests, this programme features the world premiere of a new commission from Cambridge-based composer Jon Brigg and librettist Jonathan Ainscough, developed from material devised by our very own chorus, evoking local landscapes. Debussy's La Mer and Sibelius' Tapiola provide contrasting orchestral tone poems in the first half - the first a timeless impressionistic evocation of the sea, the second a dark and brooding depiction of Finnish folklore - while Coleridge Taylor's Hiawatha's Wedding Feast provides a sumptuous musical celebration of the life of an Ojibwe warrior, as described in Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's epic poem.
