Scott LaveneNew Album: Releasing the album Cars, Buses, Bedsits and Shops (out August 22, 2026), which has been described as a "polished" shift towards a 70s American singer-songwriter sound, influenced by artists like Neil Young and Wings.
Touring: Currently on a UK tour supporting the new music, with dates in May 2026.
Studio Work: Recording new material at his "Milk City Studios" with producer Ben J. Woods.
Other Work: Produces a regular newsletter called "Bits & Bobs" featuring short stories and is working on his first novel.Musical Style and Background
Sound: Described as "Kerouac meets Ian Dury" or "if Wilco and Bruce Springsteen's baby was raised in Basildon".
Themes: His lyrics are often highly autobiographical, focusing on life in Essex, character studies of "ne'er-do-wells," and his own struggles with mental health.
Previous Albums: Released Broke (2019) and Disneyland in Dagenham (2024), the latter of which received significant acclaim for its "East End poetry" and post-punk edge.
Resilience: After a period of seven years away from music during which he struggled with mental health, Lavene rebuilt his life by working with addicts and alcoholics before returning to music with a more honest, "straight-from-the-soul" approach
