R-J Gilbert

This is an exciting new band led by one of the UK’s most promising young saxophonists, R-J Gilbert.

R-J first made a name for himself with the iconic UK-based US-born drummer the late Doug Sides (Johnny Griffin, Abbey Lincoln) before more recently being featured with the band of award-winning UK drummer Clark Tracey.

He includes performances in both the UK and China on a rapidly expanding cv.

Tonight, along with Marcus Coates-piano, Macy Wright-bass & Kefan Hu-drums the band will perform their own spin on classic standards as well as a selection of original compositions by both R-J and members of the band.

Expect an evening of high quality straight-ahead, swinging bebop and beyond.
