About this event
Vulva Voce is a band which rewrites the 'string quartet' as we know it. Taking influence from folk, jazz, classical, techno and funk, they write original music which honours women's stories from throughout history.
Alongside their string instruments, Vulva Voce uses singing, movement and anecdotes to connect with their audiences. They create a set which defies genre and brings people together through music, stories and good grooves.
Over the past two years, their innovative approach has gained them recognition by the GRAMMYS website, BBC Radio 3, Clash Magazine, BBC Radio Manchester, The Strad and Slipped Disc. They have performed internationally, collaborating with artists such as Ringdown (Caroline Shaw and Danni Lee), Ash, The Beatbox Collective, The Manatees and The Lottery Winners and supported artists such as Maruja on their tour.
Vulva Voce have performed at Glastonbury, SXSW Texas and London, WOMEX, Tallinn Music Week and in iconic venues such as The Jago, Bridgewater Hall and Stoller Hall.
