About

Starting with a piece of cloth that may be pre-used, weathered and worn, new and pristine or even something that you have previously dyed, printed or stitched.

Starting with a piece of cloth that may be pre-used, weathered and worn, new and pristine or even something that you have previously dyed, printed or stitched. You will alter and rework the cloth by chopping, changing and rearranging. The format may change completely, as you join, repair and embellish using hand stitching. You may opt to alter it further, through manipulation and adding a variety of media. Please bring:
1. A piece of cloth that you are willing to rework. This could be an old garment, tea towel, cloth that you have already worked on with dye, print or stitch, something that was lost, abandoned and found or even a pristine new piece of cloth.
2. A basic sewing kit - needles, pins, scissors and threads you like to work with.
3. A bag of fabric scraps and offcuts from previous projects. Please bring a packed lunch too.
A workshop for adults, all abilities welcome. This special workshop is part of the Textile Study Group's UNmaking exhibition programme at The Museum in the Park.
