A night of intimate, unplugged song in a plant shop. Come along to hear Niamh Corkey, Michael Cassidy and Hannah Rarity totally unplugged, telling the stories of their songs and singing their sweet melodies in a setting you'll likely not see much again. Venue is Floral Haven (2 Kildrostan St, Glasgow G41 4LU) and doors are at 7.30 with music kicking off at 8pm sharp.Niamh CorkeyNiamh is focused on finding melodies that you could recognisably draw across the sky (given a sparkler and a long exposure camera).Raised in the Kingdom of Fife and now living in the west end of Glasgow, Niamh has intricately woven her Scottish and Irish folky roots with the timeless jazz melody and harmony that she has been drawn to from a young age, as well as influences from old school country, contemporary indie-folk, and classical music.Winner of the 2024 Solo Artist Award at Donegal's Ballyshannon Folk Festival, and Rising Star finalist in this year's Scottish Jazz Awards, she has recently toured the UK supporting Siobhan Miller - from London's King's Place and the Liverpool Philharmonic to Glasgow's Saint Luke's.Her debut EP Ill Meet You More Than Halfway There was released in March 2026, with the lead single championed by Jamie Cullum on BBC Radio 2's Jazz Show.Michael CassidyMichael Cassidy is a Glasgow-based singer/songwriter whose brand of folk-rock is characterised by his fragile, tender voice and his music is inspired by his own life and the lives of those around him.Michael cites a great variety of influences including songwriting heavyweights Michael Marra, Laura Marling, Randy Newman and Richard Thompson.Michael has toured extensively including support slots with Ben Howard, John Grant, Martha Wainwright, Nathaniel Rateliff and Sam Fender.Michael was awarded the Gerry Rafferty songwriting prize for his track The Men Who Stood Beside Me In The War.Hannah RarityHannah Rarity is a leading figure in the Scottish folk scene, celebrated for her exceptional voice and dynamic musical presence. Since winning the prestigious BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year award in 2018, she has consistently impressed audiences and critics alike. Hannah's talent has led her to collaborate with some of the most respected names in folk music, including Blazin Fiddles, Rura, Niteworks and Cherish the Ladies.
Her albums, Neath the Gloaming Star (2018) and To Have You Near (2022), were both widely praised and shortlisted for Album of the Year at the BBC Alba Scots Trad Music Awards. In 2022, she was invited to serve as co-musical director for the Opening Concert of Celtic Connections: 'Neath The Gloaming Star'.
Known for her hauntingly beautiful voice and, increasingly, her poignant self-penned songs, Hannah effortlessly blends folk, contemporary, and original material, drawing comparisons to vocal legends like Eva Cassidy and Joan Baez. A versatile performer, she is in high demand as a collaborator, session vocalist, tutor, and MC, hosting Celtic Connections renowned Late Night Sessions & Brew and A Blether.Her career highlights include featured performances in 'A Celtic Christmas Sojourn' alongside The Fretless, with Brian O'Donovan & WGBH in Boston (2018), collaborations with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra at Proms in the Park, and numerous UK television appearances, including BBC Hogmanay (2015, 2017, and 2020). With performances across Europe, Australia, and the UK, Hannah continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
