About

This short documentary explores the emotional and psychological impact of loss on a daughter caring for her mum, who lives with Alzheimers disease.

This short documentary explores the emotional and psychological impact of loss on a daughter caring for her mum, who lives with Alzheimers disease. As the condition progresses, she faces a series of living losses: changes in her mums memory, personality, independence and the shared relationship that once shaped their lives.
Filmed in partnership with Beacon Dementia & Wellbeing, Highfield Hall Care Home and Be You Lifestyle Boutique, the documentary follows her as she balances the roles of daughter, carer, mum, wife and fulltime teacher. Her story reveals the strain of carrying deep emotional responsibility while managing the demands of family life and a career.
The film also highlights the grief experienced by her Dad - a man who has watched his wife gradually change, who has lost the shared routines and conversations that once defined their marriage, and who carries his own emotional burden as he supports his wife through the challenges of Alzheimers.
The documentary aims to raise awareness of the realities faced by family carers, emphasising the need for recognition, understanding and accessible support. It offers a clear, grounded look at Alzheimers care and the strength of families who continue loving through loss.
