Grantham Choral Societys summer concert in St Wulframs Church is a riot of 18th century choral music, selected by Musical Director David Humphreys to showcase a range of favourites.
The NELSON MASS is one of Haydn's masterpieces. He wrote it during the Napoleonic Wars and subtitled it a Mass for troubled times - so it feels especially relevant today.
Michael Haydn was Josephs younger, and often overlooked, brother but he was an accomplished composer in his own right. Well introduce you to his beautiful DIXIT DOMINUS, a setting of Psalm 110, which is sure to become a new favourite.
ZADOK THE PRIEST by George Frideric Handel needs no introduction. He wrote it for the coronation of George II in 1727, and its re-appeared at every coronation since then and its still in popular demand. (We defy you not to sing along!).
Our programme is completed by Mozarts EXSULTATE JUBILATE, another perennially popular work for orchestra and soprano voice.
Were delighted to be accompanied by four talented soloists studying at the Royal College of Music, and Helix Ensemble.Bar open before the concert and in the interval.
Come and join us its going to be a blast!
