Nccl: Augustine At The Dawn Of Christendom

Many have read Augustines Confessions, but it is The City of God which is universally acknowledged as his greatest and most influential work. This talk presents Augustines work in its historical context, the crossroads faced by Christians during an existential crisis at the dawn of Christendom the fall of Rome to the Goths in AD 410. Augustines argument was to have a profound effect on the Church as it struggled to survive the ensuing crisis. It is presented in its historical context, set against competing Christian arguments after Constantines conversion.
