Our Polish-themed Spring Concert begins with the folk inspired themes of Lutoslawski's Mala Suite, composed 75 years ago. Rycki's recently premired Violin concerto, reconstructed after being discovered buried in a suitcase in the composer's garden follows with violinist Rachel Stonham. Tchaikovsky's Polish symphony, the composer's least well-known symphony but still innovative and melodic with recurring Polish dance rhythms prominent in the Finale, brings this concert of unusual music to a close.
