Masterclass: Mark making for Light Sensitive Processes

Printmaker Alfons Bytautas will run this one day masterclass session, exploring methods for
creating autographic or hand-drawn positive images on film.
This special workshop session will focus on the materials and techniques suitable for drawing and
mark-making for techniques such as solar plate intaglio and screen print stencils. Well discuss
how to select appropriate materials for successful exposure for particular print methods. You will
be encouraged to experiment with different drawing materials on different drawing films to
produce test samples youll be able to refer to for future projects.
Well also discuss how to prepare drawn or painted separations for colour printing with tips on
registration.
Participants should have previously completed an introductory etching or screen printing
workshop or have a working knowledge of basic etching or screen printing techniques. all materials will be supplied. There will be tea and coffee and participants can buy lunch from the Cafe at Gracefield.
