First Prize winners at the 2025 Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition, Opus13 is rapidly emerging as a leading voice on the international chamber music scene.

Named after Mendelssohn’s String Quartet in A minor, Op. 13 - the first work they performed together - the ensemble opens their programme with this youthful and passionate masterpiece.

Advocates of Nordic and Slavic repertoire, they bring a work by Kryštof Mařatka which deftly bridges past and present through inventive textures and expressive exploration.

The programme concludes with Janáček’s powerful “manifesto on love,” a work bursting with theatricality, colour and emotional intensity.
