Celebrating 50 years of the Teenage Depression LPOne of the most highly influential and recognisable names from the English Rock scene, EDDIE AND THE HOT RODS have enjoyed a career that has now spanned four decades and continue to entertain audiences across the globe.Recognised as one of the founding fathers of the Punk era, they were simply interested in playing loud, fast, in your face Rock n Roll rather than bad mouthing the Queen or fermenting anarchy. In1976 they went head to head with a Australian band called AC/DC to see who would sell out most consecutive nights at London's famous Marquee.Eddie and the Hot Rods won that battle but it is fair to say AC/DC won the war! In 1977 the band released a track called Do Anything You Wanna Do which spent the whole Summer in the charts reaching Number 9 before Island Records withdrew the single after sales of 475,000 copies.They had 4 UK top forty hit singles and toured the USA with The Ramones, Talking Heads, and The Police, they inspired bands such as Def Leppard and The Undertones to pick up instruments and start a band .The hard and fast style that made Eddie & The Hot Rods one of the most exciting bands of the1970's era, crossing genres of RnB, Rock and Blues is still evident today.Plus special guests:DEPARTMENT SSWEET KNUCKLEmore info soon!
