Based on the Academy Award-winning film starring Colin Firth, this is the story of how King George VI overcame his fear of public speaking through the help of Australian speech therapist Lionel Logue The Kings Speech details the unlikely relationship that unfolds between a young royal and a tough Aussie speech therapist, as Logue endows the stammering future King with the ability to speak to, and for, the nation.
The 2010 film version of The Kings Speech starring Colin Firth as King George and Geoffrey Rush as Lionel Logue was a critical success and won several Oscars including Best Original Screenplay for screenwriter David Seidler. However, Seidler had already conceived the story as a stage play which he had been researching since the 1970s. After the success of the film, the story was brought to the stage as originally intended, landing in the West End in 2012.
