Sigurd, exiled prince, seeks his destiny in slaying the dragon Fafnir but there are deeds afoot that he can only guess at. Soon he and those he loves the valkyrie Brunhild, the princess Gudrun, her brothers Gunnar and Hogni find themselves caught by mysterious forces as a cursed treasure threatens to consume them all.Drawn from medieval manuscripts and ancient poetry, the story of the Ring is one of the oldest and most acclaimed in the Norse and Germanic-speaking world. It has inspired masterworks by Tolkien, Wagner and others, and echoes through modern culture.Jon Mason is a Brighton-based storyteller and folklorist, with PhD exploring how tales old and new link us to present, past and place. His shows have appeared at festivals, arts venues and storytelling clubs around the country. "This is wildly ambitious exuberant storytelling" - Brighton SourcePerformances are aimed at adults (although many tales will be joyful, parts of some tales may be dark or violent in places, as many traditional tales originally were, but we don't make promise of this either). This show is suitable for ages 7+ and requires being seated and listening for 1+ hours.Doors open for the event at 7.00pm, please be seated by 7.20pm. There will be an interval. You can purchase drinks in The White Hart and bring them through to The Old Stables venue located around the back.Elizabeth I was Queen of England when The White Hart first opened its doors. The Old Stables is located around the back, accessed through the big oak black courtyard doors off the high street. It was used as a skittle alley since the early 20th century and very occasionally opens its doors for events.There is no hearing loop, if you have difficulty hearing please try to arrive early to grab a seat closer to the front.
