Wimborne Minster Chained Library

Founded in 1686 by two local Wimborne gentlemen, the Chained Library is one of only five remaining in England and is still in its original setting.See and hear about a diverse array of books, including a handwritten manuscript nearly 700 years old, a bible in nine languages and a 1667 book describing how to build houses safely after the Great Fire of London.This is an experience not just for all lovers of books and history but also for the curious.The Chained Library is at the top of the former Treasury Tower in the Church of Saint Cuthburga, Wimborne's Minster. Access is via a spiral staircase of 26 steps.
