Calendar Girls: The Musical, with music by Gary Barlow and lyrics by Tim Firth, is based on the 2003 film Calendar Girls, which is in turn based on a true story, and the original 2008 play adaptation by Firth.A heart-warming, emotional, and comedic musical. The death of a much-loved husband from leukaemia, prompts a group of ordinary women from a small Yorkshire Womens Institute to defy social etiquette and create a tasteful nude calendar to raise money to buy a new sofa for the cancer wing at the hospital. Upturning theirs and others preconceptions, none of the women of the Knapeley WI expect the emotional journey that will test their friendships and values, facing personal growth, empowerment, self-belief and emotional ramifications.
