Join Orpheus Sinfonia for an exceptional evening of music-making with a concert defined by the thrill of discovery. The evening begins with the vibrant, celebratory energy of Berlioz’s Roman Carnival Overture, a joyful start to a programme with such a colourful and summery palette.Brahms’ Symphony No.3 concludes your evening – music of profound beauty and great emotional depth. Perhaps the most personal of all of Brahms’ symphonies, it is also one of most balanced, combining explosive energy, quiet contemplation, and artistic adventure and discovery.
That sense of discovery comes to the fore between these two pieces, with two brand new pieces of music receiving their premieres. We have a new work for cello and orchestra by Roxanna Panufnik, a composer whose music combines intense beauty and emotional directness with strikingly modern textures, as well as Alban Hefin by Tayla-Leigh Payne, a piece inspired by the Celtic mythology that surrounds the summer solstice.
