Join local artist Merlyn from The Littlest Falcon to spend a creative day learning the art of single-colour linoprinting in this relaxed, hands-on three-hour session, perfect for beginners. What to Expect:We'll begin by designing your print, so please come with an idea in mind, or bring along some reference objects or photos for inspiration. Merlyn will also provide a selection of reference images and linoprint examples. You'll learn various mark-making techniques and how to transfer your design onto your lino block. Once carved, you'll be able to test print your block and make any adjustments before printing your final design. We'll be printing by hand burnishing - a simple method you can easily replicate at home - but you'll also get the chance to try out two different tabletop presses Merlyn will bring along.Materials:
We'll work with lino blocks approximately 6x8 in size, printing onto 8x10 paper.
Oil-based inks will be used (note: these take about a week to dry once you take your print home).
All printing materials will be provided. What to Bring:
Your own apron
Clothes you don't mind getting inky: oil-based ink can stain.
Any tools you'd like to use (optional)
