Changing Ayrshire Landscapes Conference

It is 60 years since 1976, and the foundation of Irvine Development Corporation, so to commemorate that, and to celebrate its legacy, the Ayrshire Archaeological and Natural History Society is offering a one day conference on Ayrshire Landscapes, and how they have changed over time. HAC is, of course, an enduring IDC legacy. In the morning, the focus will be on IDC and the effect it had on the local urban and rural landscapes. In the afternoon we will look at changes brought about by industrial growth and decline (especially of the coal industry), farming and rural sport.
