Berlioz: King Lear
Tchaikovsky: Variations on a Rococo Theme
Dvorak: Silent Woods
Dvorak: Symphony No. 8
An evocative programme of orchestral masterpieces, opening with Berlioz's dramatic King Lear overture. Tchaikovsky's lyrical Variations on a Rococo Theme follows, featuring Joely Koos on solo cello, before Dvorak's atmospheric Silent Woods. After the interval the concert concludes with Dvorak's radiant and exuberant Symphony No. 8, a celebration of melody, nature and Czech musical character.
