Sycamore Gap on New Years Day

A traditional winter walk along Hadrians Wall, taking in crag lough and Sycamore Gap to welcome in 2027.One of the best circular walks to see The Wall and the local countryside in all its glory. Once on The Wall the views both North and South are spectacular. The walk along the top of The Wall is rugged but worth effort. We pass milecastles , Sycamore Gap, and look down on Crag Lough. Our return path can be seen in the distance. Once on the low level path to the North we look back on the cliffs that give the Lough its name, some say the view from this path is better than the one from The Wall.Dress for changeable weather and wear suitable footwear. Bring a packed lunch, snacks and a drink for the break.

From Hexham, driving west along the A69. Next right turn after Bardon Mill turning (which is on the left). Follow country road past collection of houses, then take next left turn onto Park Lane. Follow road to end, then turn right.
