Rupert Egerton-Smith is the soloist in the Piano Concerto by Edvard Grieg, our first performance in over 20 yeas of this best-loved of all piano concertos
The other main work in the programme is the wonderful Third Symphony by Swedish composer Lars-Erik Larsson, delightfully tuneful and colourful music that certainly deserves to be better-known.
The concert also features Sibelius' popular ode to Finnish nationalism, Finlandia, and Grieg's Funeral March in Memory of Rikard Nordraak, a deeply-moving tribute to his fellow Norwegian composer who died tragically young.
