Study morning about "Illustrated Dickens & Literature in Art" on

Arts Society lecturer, Rosalind Whyte, will explore depictions of literature on British Art and show how artists have brought great characters from books and poetry to life. She will then focus on contemporary artists.She will examine how contemporary artists responded to the life and works of Charles Dickens and will explore artists interpretation of some of Dickens most popular characters, in paintings as well as the original book illustrations. She will also look at portraits of Dickens himself over the years and how images of him changed as he became an increasingly important and respected figure.Meeting place - The study morning will be held upstairs in Duke Street Church, Richmond TW9 1DH so enter via the main door in Duke Street.Meeting time - Please be there from 9.30am in time for a 10am start.

11.30 - 12.45 Second lectureThe cost is 23. You will be emailed a ticket but you do not need to show it on arrival as we will have a list of names. You are most welcome to bring family and friends.Our lecturer - Rosalind Whyte got a BA and MA from Goldsmiths College, and then an MA from Birkbeck College. She's an experienced guide at Tate Britain, Tate Modern, the Royal Academy and Greenwich. She lectures at Tate, on cruises and to independent art societies.
