Leeds Minster Launch - The Hiking Organist - Alex Woodrow plays Bach, Franck, Mendelssohn & Parry

Parry's Fantasia and Fugue in G.This special recital launches The Hiking Organist, a fundraising initiative supporting the Leeds Minster Choral Scholarship Programme.

Following the performance, Alexander will embark on a six-day, 104-mile walk along the White Rose Way from Leeds to Scarborough, giving a recital each day in churches across Yorkshire.

The challenge aims to raise awareness and funding for scholarships that help students from Leeds Conservatoire and the Universities of Leeds and York develop their musical skills through regular participation in the Choir of Leeds Minster.Blending outstanding organ music with a commitment to nurturing the next generation of musicians, the recital marks the beginning of a unique Yorkshire project linking music, community and the county's rich church heritage.Refreshments will be available after the performance, with an opportunity to meet Alexander and learn more about the journey ahead and the young musicians who will benefit from the funds raised.Support the Journey.
