About the eventBats are amazing animals, and this is a great chance to experience them in their natural habitat. After a short introduction to these charismatic creatures, our friendly guide will take you out on the reserve with some bat detectors to try and see some in flight, and hear them as they emit echolocation calls to find their food. The walk will be fully outdoors and a chance to see this unique urban nature reserve at a different time of day.You are welcome to bring your own bat detector and a red light torch if you have them, but we will also provide bat detectors for the group. What to expectLearn all about the bats found at Walthamstow Wetlands.Use bat detectors to hear bats as they hunt.Experience the beauty of the reserve after-hours.Please note: the bats on our reserves are wild animals, and we cannot guarantee sightings.

However, this unpredictability is all part of the joy of nature!Proceeds from this event contribute towards London Wildlife Trust's mission of nature recovery across the city.Image credit: Dale Sutton/2020vision
