Fragmented loops of sound shift and evolve in Jocelyn Campbell’s new work, lo-end.
The unexpected combination of tuba (Nona Lawrence), double bass (Gwen Reed), and electronics (Campbell) shifts the ambient electronic genre into the analogue world.
Theatreship becomes a space of the uncanny: what is live and what is recorded becomes unknown, as sound becomes embodied and disembodied in an ever-evolving wave of ambient music.
Tuba and double bass accompany themselves through live and pre-recorded elements, memories that are eroded and disappear as soon as they become live.
Sounds appear between memory and invention, presence and disappearance, and electronics and analogue.Support comes from Pav - a London-based composer, producer and sound designer. The closing DJ set - a combination of modernist music and electronics - comes from phonewifey, Campbell’s producer and DJ alter-ego.Presented by nonclassical. This is an 18+ event
