Join us for an illuminating talk by archivist Pam McNicol, who will delve into the rich and often poignant history preserved within the Whinwell Children’s Home records, held at Stirling Council Archives. The Stirling Council Archives collection provides an insight into the social conditions and attitudes of the time, as well as revealing segments of the life stories of the individuals connected to Whinwell.

Drawing on these remarkable records, Pam will guide attendees through the stories, administrative details, and wider social context captured in the collection, shedding light on the lives of the children who passed through Whinwell and the evolution of childcare in Stirling.

This session offers a rare opportunity to discover how archival material helps us understand institutional care, community responsibility, and the personal narratives that might otherwise be lost to history.
