Voices for the Earth - an evening of live music and the spoken word, inspired by nature and the environment, an Otley 2030 fundraiser. Music from Mariner's Star and The Lost Embers and poetry readings from Tim Boardman and Fiona Hilton. Friday 8th May, 7pm, Black Horse (upstairs).Mariner's Star are Matt Evens (piano and vocals), Cathy Crabtree (guitar and vocals), Carrie Davis (djembe, drums) and Graeme Matthews (bass). They play an ethereal blend of heartfelt lyrics, soulful harmonies and original songs. They are playing this event as a trio. The Lost Embers started out as two friends singing round a fire pit on a clear summer's night. Come and hear their close harmonies and earthy sound sharing original stories of nature and connection plus a few interpretations of well-known songs. https://www.facebook.com/thelostembersTim Boardman, a poet from Otley, West Yorkshire, crafts lyrical, intimate pieces that illuminate ordinary life, blending reflection, memory, and gentle storytelling into moments of subtle emotional resonance. A devoted family man, Tim balances his life between his roles as husband, father, teacher, and poet. His work celebrates those intersections where care meets creativity, and where everyday life becomes poetry.http://facebook.com/groups/588235645977509Fiona Hilton's poems are an eclectic mix, drawing on inspiration from herconcerns for nature and local wildlife, but also from exploring her responses to life and its often-humdrum issues. She is a member of Otley 2030 and loves singing (and occasionally songwriting) with Cathy Crabtree in a duo The Wild Roses.
