Dudù Kouate and Shunya

Renowned for his mastery of pan-African traditional instruments, many of which he creates himself, Dudù Kouate journeys through his cultural influences in this rare duo appearance with Irish multi-instrumentalist Shunya.

Born in Senegal in 1963 into a family of griots, the conservators of a precious and ancient African cultural and musical tradition, Dudù’s performances are famous for his array of more than 200 instruments.

His recent appearance with Abel Selaocoe in Newcastle was described by Broadway World as ‘transcendental...the best gig I’ve ever been to’.

Alan Keary (a.k.a Shunya) is an enigmatic folk, electronic and jazz musician who has written arrangements for the BBC Proms, performed at the Hamburg Elbphilarmonie and whose recent album received glowing praise on Radio 1.Concert running time 90 mins, no interval.
