About

Siwan Catrin is a Welsh harpist, folk musician, and singer-songwriter, now based in South London.

Siwan Catrin is a Welsh harpist, folk musician, and singer-songwriter, now based in South London. Singing traditional and self-written pieces in both Welsh and English, she finds in the folk songbook not cosy nostalgia or otherworldly whimsy but hope for a radical future.
By transporting us to times before our contemporary social order, folk songs give us glimpses of how the world was transformed - and how it might be again. At the same time, they show us how certain themes and stories, human hopes and heartaches, remain unchanged across the ages. In these possibilities - what can change and what can endure - Siwan finds her solace and the inspiration for her debut EP Possibility, released in April with Circle Dance Recordings.
Tamise’s style of music is a blend of traditional and contemporary arrangements. Their music is accessible towards folk veterans and first time festival goers alike, expect a mix of energetic and thoughtful sets.
Meeting in the National Youth Folk Ensemble, their experiences have been guided by many skilled tutors shaping their cooperative playing style into one based on close connections with each other. Through the ensemble Tamise has played at festivals such as Sidmouth, Shrewsbury, and then as a band festivals such as Tenterden folk festival.
Tamise was recently personally invited to support Michael McGoldrick and Tim Edey in Oxford and have just released their new single, Swedish Breakfast and EP Homebrewed that bridges a contemporary Irish style, traditional Swedish music, and their own personal style into one set.
